Narcissistic Abuse Therapy in Texas

Narcissistic Abuse Therapy in Texas

Anywhere from one to 15% of the U.S. population suffers from narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). If you are in a relationship with someone with NPD, they will typically try to separate you from your friends and family and systematically work at lowering your self-esteem while expecting constant admiration from you.

Unfortunately, most narcissists don’t think there’s anything wrong with them, so they don’t seek therapy. Instead, it is typically the victim who will reach out and ask for help.

Narcissistic abuse recovery is a therapy plan that focuses on helping those abused by a narcissist recover their lives through empowerment.

Signs of a Narcissist

While only a mental health professional can diagnose NPD, there are some signs you can look for to determine if someone you love is a narcissist:

  • - They criticize you to make themselves look better
  • - They get angry if you disagree with them
  • - They isolate you from friends and family
  • - They lack empathy and are intolerant of others’ feelings and needs
  • - They think they are superior to others and don’t associate with those “beneath” them
  • - They believe others are jealous of them
  • - They are manipulative and may use gaslighting to make you question your understanding of reality
  • - They exploit others for their own gain
  • - They tell you everything is your fault
  • - They use emotional blackmail like threats, anger, punishment, or intimidation

Narcissists also use triangulation to assert their control and manipulate their victims. In triangulation, they will bring a third party into the relationship, pitting them against the victim.

These symptoms can make you feel alone, isolated, or alienated from your support system of friends and family.

How I Address Narcissistic Abuse Recovery

If you are the partner, loved one, or child of a narcissist — help is near. In fact, just by being here on my site, you have taken the first step toward healing and recovery.

My approach will help you rebuild your self-esteem and establish a new confidence and sense of worth so you can break free of the abusive relationship or at least set boundaries so the narcissistic person can no longer harm you.

We will work together in a comfortable, safe environment that will empower you to make smart, healthy choices as you move through recovery.

If the issues surrounding your relationship with the narcissist have roots in religion or culture, I can provide the culturally sensitive support needed to work through the trauma effectively. If you are a member of the LGBTQIAA+ community, I provide a gender-inclusive environment in which you can heal and repair your life.

Therapy is a very personal thing. For this reason, I am trained in several modalities to allow you choice and control as we work through your trauma. You can choose from talk therapy and bodywork to expressive arts or a combination of modalities as your needs and preferences change. Sessions can be structured to include partners and families or be for you alone — whatever you feel is best.
