Sandra is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas and founder of Instilling Hope Counseling Services. With a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Arabic Literature from The University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University, Sandra sees individuals ages 13 and up, couples, and families.
With the ability to communicate efficiently in English, Spanish and Arabic as well as have a deep understanding of these cultures and their norms, Sandra helps people from all backgrounds find positivity in their personal and sexual lives. She assists them with navigating the diverse cultural experience of the United States.
As a therapist, Sandra's personal goal is to help eliminate the negative stigma that surrounds mental health and to encourage inclusivity and positivity across a wide range of personal relationship choices.
She creates an open, warm, and non-judgmental environment that assists her clients in seeking the opportunity to live their best lives through compassionate therapeutic care. In this safe space, clients can break down the barriers to a fulfilling sexual and personal life and learn to build new, healthy skills that resolve issues and help them move toward recovery and joy.
Using a holistic approach to mental health, Sandra works within a systemic framework with the help of a variety of therapeutic methods she chooses based on the individual needs of each client. With a focus on compassion and empathy, she guides her clients toward growth and betterment, moving through negative past experiences and removing destructive sexual narratives for a healthier, more positive outlook.
In her free time, Sandra enjoys exploring a wide range of activities — from teaching group exercise classes at her local gym to creating watercolor works of art. In between, she spends quality time with family and friends (and her two cats), reads LOTS of fiction, and aggressively expands her culinary repertoire by trying new and fun restaurants when she has the time.
Sandra's earlier work with Mosaic Family Services as a part-time Clinical Counselor has deepened her knowledge of the critical issues facing immigrants to the United States. She also co-directed the Dallas Southwest Sexual Health Alliance for one year, adding to her understanding of the changing landscape of sexual issues and concerns across a broad spectrum of genders, identifications, and choices.
